Former Wendy’s Worker Sues After Injuries caused by ‘exploding fryer’.

Another Day Another Dollar

Picture this; you’ve recently gotten a new job at a local fast food restaurant, you wake up and get ready to go to work, and you get there, clock in for your shift, and get to work like you’ve done every other day. Except today isn’t like every other day…

BOOM!

After loading some chicken into the deep fryer, you bend over to check on some potatoes and suddenly the fryer explodes, firing grease and oil hot enough to make your favorite combo meal all over your body.

The Fryer Exploded?!

That’s exactly what Katelyn Griffey says happened to her on Jan. 24, 2017 after starting her shift at the Wendy’s restaurant where she was employed.

After injuries to her face, neck, shoulder, arm, chest, and back caused, reportedly, severe and/or permanent extreme physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, lost wages, loss of future earning capacity, loss of capacity to enjoy life, scarring and disfigurement, and brought with it all the medical expenses that usually follow injuries as extreme as these, Katelyn Griffey decided to sue.

Katelyn Griffey claims that the defendants, who were named as: Wendbeck Corp., Henny Penny Corp., Astro Food Equipment Inc., and Statewide Services, had knowledge of the unsafe working conditions that presented a high risk of injury or even death. According to the lawsuit she also claims that by claiming that the fryer was not only of ‘good and merchantable quality’, but, fit and suitable for its intended purpose, they had breached their warranty.

And to add to all of that, the lawsuit says that the only training she had received on how to use the same fryer was only verbal and not thorough enough to allow safe operation by her.

According to the lawsuit these actions and negligent behavior on behalf of the defendants are what caused Katelyn Griffey these serious injuries. Now she is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
